If you want to create a lead magnet in Canva that actually works, there are two things you need to get right: what goes inside it, and how you export it. This week I am covering both.
What Makes a Lead Magnet Actually Work
A lot of coaches have a lead magnet. Not as many have one that gets results. However, the difference usually comes down to a few simple things.
- Pick one specific problem. Not a broad topic, not ten tips. One problem for one person. The more specific your topic, the faster someone signs up.
- Keep it short. Five to six pages is all you need. A cover, a quick overview, three tips, and a closing page. Overthinking the length usually means nobody finishes it.
- Make it look like your brand. A generic PDF and a branded PDF can have identical content and get completely different results. Design signals credibility before your reader gets past the first page.
- End with a clear next step. The last page is the most important one. Tell your reader exactly what to do after they finish reading. Most coaches leave this blank and lose the client they just warmed up.
How to Create a Lead Magnet in Canva and Export It Correctly
Once your content is all added, the next step is getting it out of Canva. However, most people do not realize that how you export your PDF completely changes how it looks and works once it leaves Canva.
Before you export, first make sure your clickable PDF links are set up correctly inside your design. Then watch this tutorial to make sure the export does not undo all your hard work.
Here is what you will learn:
- Why exporting as PNG or JPG makes all your links stop working
- The difference between PDF Standard and PDF Print, and which one you actually need
- The hidden checkbox that breaks everything if you leave it on
- How to check your links before you send your PDF to anyone
Once you build this once, every future presentation starts from a place that already looks like you.

A lead magnet that looks good and exports correctly is one of the most valuable things you can have in your business. In fact, get both right and it will keep working for you long after you hit publish.
