Christmas Advent Calendar: Happy Christmas

Hey There! Wait? Where did November go?  My oh, my… I can’t believe it’s this time of year. I love it! Our tree is up, the stockings are out, and with a toddler this Christmas, I decided it would be fun to do a couple of “countdown” calendars to Christmas.  I remember as a kiddo, EVERY year with some kind of advent calendar: the chocolates that popped through the window, the candle you melted down every night, and a many more fun memories. Well, I’ve been wanting to make these countdowns for a while now. I’ve seen them for every kind of countdown you can imagine.

A little about the construction of the countdown:
I started out with two 4 inch x 4 inch size blocks, and all of my numbers printed on some of my favorite papers from the Happy Christmas collection at Design House digital. Doesn’t it just make you happy?  I only painted the edges of my blocks, to make life easier and save paint, since the areas won’t show.  Since Happy Christmas is a digital collection, I added some 2 inch white circles to my 3.5×3.5 inch squares. The font I used was Memphis Light. (I love this font-so classy and clean)
The hardest part for me was making the blocks work, so i could countdown from 25. You’d think it was easy!?  Block #1: 0,1,2,7,8, and9 (I used the 9 for a 6- I know right? so sneaky!).  Block #2: 0,1,2,3,4, and 5.

Modge podge on the block and let dry. I wrapped them up cute with some Tule ribbon for a gift. I have a neice coming just before Christmas and a brother in law coming home from being gone for a couple years. We are counting down a few things first this year, but whatever you are counting down, it’s done in style!!
